The 200 Meter
4 Months Old
You are 4 months old (5months by the time I write this). You are 14lb 2oz and 24 1/2 inches long. I think you are the biggest baby out of the 3 girls. I wanted to wait to start foods, but you didn't. It seems that overnight you went from being satisfied with breastmilk to wanting more to eat. So, so far you have had peas, carrots, pears, and bananas. You like everything so far and learned very quickly to take food off the spoon. You are a good sleeper. I can lay you down and you will drift off to sleep on your own. You won't take the pacifier. You frown like it is the most awful thing you've ever tasted and then you let it fall out of your mouth. Instead you are satisfied sucking your thumb. You laugh out loud and are tickled at the darndest things. You don't really like to be on your belly. You will rock back and forth until you manage to roll over. You are always shocked when it happens. You have started to cry when we walk away from you. And when someone new holds you. You blow raspberries all the time. It doesn't matter if you have food in your mouth. You just spray food all over us. You love when I sing "Pat A Cake" to you. You smile and sing along. You reach and grab. When I have something in my hand, you try to take it away from me. You become fixated on it and never stop trying. You are overall such a happy baby. We love you sweet Rylie. One Sunny Morning

Daddy Cam

I got the idea for the name of this post from the TLC show, "Baby Story". You know when they name the person that is doing the filming when the show can't make it to the baby delivery. Well Jerry is my stand in photographer when I am at work. This is one morning in March. Everyone is in our bed. The bassinet beside our bed just sits there collecting dust and Cailin will sleep in our bed or Ariel's. One thing is fairly consistent- she will not sleep in her own bed.Thursday, March 4, 2010
Cailin and the Broken Clavicle
Cailin was riding her Big Wheel down the driveway and hit the garbage can. It tossed her off her bike and on to the ground. She came in the house crying and laid down on the couch. She told me her neck hurt and since she had just awaken from a nap, I thought she had slept wrong. Poor thing, laid on the couch for 3 long days before I took her to the doctor. We found out she broke her clavicle. My heart broke. I couldn't believe she had broken her clavicle. I learned a big lesson this time- if your kids act differently; tune in and listen.
I tell you what: kids are resilient little folks. She never complained of pain unless we touched that arm. She never wore the sling past the first couple of days and since the pediatrician said it was for comfort only, we didn't make her.Lately, this is the smile I get when I pull out the camera.

Our Days
This was in January, our first official month homeschooling. We were taking it easy and just trying to enjoy the days. We were always so consumed with school and homework routine, that it left very little of the day to take it easy. So we were trying to establish our routine and get back to just hanging out and having leisurely days. So, on this day, we were off to the park to play. These photos are in no particular order because they loaded any way they wanted.
We swing.
We walk down the beach.
I've been teaching Cailin how to kick her feet. We haven't totally gotten it down yet.
Rylie is totally content to ride in the sling. When she is fussy in the house, I put her in the sling and within minutes she is asleep. Unfortunately she often wakes when you put her down.
Because of Red Tide, there were a lot of dead fish washed up on the beach. I looked back to check on Cailin and she had a rather large dead fish that she picked up. I screamed which made her drop the fish. Ariel rinsed her hands in the water. Which looking at this photo doesn't seem like such a good idea, but I promise I used hand sanitizer on her when we got back to the car.Rylie, 2 months
I know I am really late blogging this but you were 2 months old here (Feb 4). How do I remember the date? Because I wrote it down. You weighed 10lb 5oz and 21 1/2 inches long. You gained 3 lbs in one month, so it's not a surprise that you are a really good eater. I was laying you down to sleep and you popped your head up like this. You had never set up so tall like this before. You smile when someone even looks at you. You save the biggest smile for your Momma. You talk and coo and it is so very cute. You hold on to my shirt or wrap your arm around mine when I'm walking. I think it's to make sure you don't fall. You hair acts as if it wants to curl but just hasn't fully committed to it yet. We love you sweet Rylie. It's as if you were always a part of the family.
